Can you See the LOVE?
Like the song says, “Love is All Around” but sometimes, sometimes...Love is quiet, hiding in plain sight, mundane, routine...something we walk right by without even noticing. Love really is everywhere if we allow ourselves the time to look and make the effort to see.

For me, I see love in sun glistening on the milkweed seed that is ready to fly and start a new bistro for a Monarch. I see love in a reflection of a beaver’s pond where trout, insects, ducks and turtles find refuge. Love is in the deeply furrowed bark of the ash that first sprouted in the sunshine of 2 centuries ago. Love is in the cobble of the streambed, shaped and polished by miles of travel. But love is also the dandelion squeezing through the cracks in the pavement, flourishing in spite of hardship. Love is chicory blooming on the shoulder of the highway, bent but not broken by the relentless pace of life. Love is the scarlet sumac blazing brilliantly to provide a late winter feast to hungry songbirds. Love is the ice that skims the top of a puddle forming patterns of transient brilliance that any abstract artist would be thrilled to create.

My art is not technical. It does not follow rules because I don’t know the rules. It may not even be art. Maybe the only thing that these pieces will accomplish is to inspire busy people to pause and take a closer look at their surroundings. Maybe they’ll feel some peace and then share that feeling. I know I feel better when I create these images. Love is all around and I wonder how the world would be if it were contagious?
